Farts and Crafts: Toilet Paper Roll Cow
Looking for the perfect craft to do with your kids on any afternoon? Why not try making a cow out of a toilet paper roll?! The overall project takes about 45 minutes and is fairly simple. It’s a great craft recommended for 4-6 year olds, but anyone can enjoy making this creative cow using just a few supplies you have around the house! The final product can also be used for storage and holding supplies- check out the end of this post for more suggestions!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Pink and white construction paper
- Toilet paper roll
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Black marker
Step One
The first step is easy. Simply cut your toilet paper roll in half and wrap it with white construction paper, making sure to cover the entire toilet paper roll. Glue the construction paper to keep it adhered to the roll.
Step Two
Next, using the pink construction paper, cut out an oval shape for the nose and draw two black dots and a smile on it. Additionally, draw two black dots and eyebrows on the white construction paper to make the eyes and the eyebrows of the cow. Then glue the nose piece onto the toilet roll as seen above.
Step Three
After you’ve drawn the face of the cow you can use a marker and draw black spots. There’s no specific pattern to this- have fun with it! Once you’ve drawn the spots, cut out two teardrop shapes and draw a short black line in the middle of them to make the ears, Cut out two round shapes and bend one end of them to make feet (bending the back part of the feet makes it easier to glue inside the toilet roll).
Step Four
After you’ve drawn the face of the cow you can use a marker and draw black spots. There’s no specific pattern to this- have fun with it! Once you’ve drawn the spots, cut out two teardrop shapes and draw a short black line in the middle of them to make the ears, Cut out two round shapes and bend one end of them to make feet (bending the back part of the feet makes it easier to glue inside the toilet roll).
Step Five
You’re almost done! After you’ve cut out the ears and feet, simply glue them onto the cow. You can glue the folded tabs inside the roll to hide them. The last thing needed is to make the tail. Cut out a skinny rectangle shape from the white construction paper and fray the ends of it to make the tail- I used to scissors to make the fray. You can add black spots to the tail as well, if you would like! Finally, glue the tail onto the back of the cow and your craft is complete! You can use this cow as a fun decoration for the kids’ bathroom, a toothbrush holder, or a place to store hair ties, bobby pins or safety pins.
